Food
I’m going to pull a Cakalusa and post a reel of food. But mostly to document the difference in prices compared to America and China. You know, an “decent” dinner is the equivalent of 10 dollars here in China. In America, that’s a steal. My good friend took me to eat at this upscale, four-course plus appetizer wine, mid-dinner cocktail, and post-dinner beverage. It was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance was so fancy. But, I was thinking about how much this would cost in America, and I figure it would run a couple hundred dollars. But in China, a person is the equivalent of 50 USD. It’s amazing. My friend who took me out told me that even though it’s upscale, many middle class people can afford it. You don’t need to be absolutely rich to afford something like this. No wonder Chinese people think Americans are Gods. They have so much spending power here. Expats are so damn spoiled. I hate them so much, but I’ll write something about that later. In the meantime, please enjoy the following food pictures.

but… is it safe?Last thing I want is melamine or lead in my food…I remember when I used to smoke, my friend brought cigarettes from China.. I found pieces of newspaper in the “tobacco”Then, he was bragging (2006) about how China created fake eggs, fake green tea, fake milk. 0.o That kind of stuff makes me iffy about China. At least we know Quality Control exists in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but China? It scares me to trust anything they sell… food-wise.
man, looks pretty yummy, it’s late at night here, I ate alot already but looking at all of this makes me hungry (cringes)
@BenelliMan - most of the restaurants that are this nice are international. this specific one is from taiwan. a lot of them originate in taiwan, japan, etc. because they’re such huge franchises, and have such important names, they wouldn’t dare to compromise their reputations usually. fake eggs and fake milk and fake things are usually bought at like open markets, where there isn’t quality control and you can’t source anything to one person. the melamine scandal broke out because sanlu’s suppliers were just any farmers in the area, and the farmers basically just dumped milk and melamine into these collection areas. it’s pretty sad since sanlu was highly regarded in china.
The first picture makes my mouth water O_O Are those _____ stuffed mushrooms?
@babixling - yes! they were absolutely the BEST stuffed mushrooms i’ve ever had!
