Why Asian Girls Want to be Pale
I don’t understand why there’s such a controversy over this. Every once in a while there’s a huge slew of posts about it, about how supposedly Asian girls want to be more like white people, etc. (Or Tyra just has to have a show dedicated to it.) One just popped up on Lovelyish, and it’s damn annoying. No one questions the antics of white people and their aesthetics. It’s always non-white people, and somehow it always leads to us wanting to look white. Nope. Every culture has their view of beauty. Like that one African tribe that likes long necks and wears rings around their necks to elongate them. They don’t want to be giraffes, do they?
The point is, aesthetics are always based around what is considered wealthy, luxurious, and hard to find. Asians work in the field so they get tan, but if you work in the field then you’re deemed poor. So rich people were pale. That’s the basic “history” behind wanting to be pale. However, why can’t we just want to look pale? This is the hardest thing for white people to understand, because they just love being tan. Them being tan doesn’t count as them disregarding their heritage, but if Asians (and even other cultures like Indians, Hispanics, and even Africans) want to become paler, it’s because we want to be like the white man. Big eyes are/were just an uncommon thing for Asians to have, so people covet it. Asian people want high noses because of the same reason. Plus, does anyone really want small eyes and round noses? White people make fun of our stereotypical eyes all the time. It’s not because of that that we dislike small eyes, but it’s the fact that most people of all cultures just find it unattractive. Big eyes and high noses are just all in all more attractive. Most people would agree. We don’t want to look like white people. I have not once met an Asian person with this sort of view on aesthetics that idolized a white person’s looks.
White people really need to stop being so full of themselves. And our own culture needs to stop propelling this thought. We shouldn’t need to explain why we prefer certain things. If I wanted to look white, I’d do things white people do, like tan, use bronzer, etc.

Okay Im going to read this after I get off of work… I got half way and now I have to leave.. very interesting
Wow. This is both inciteful and ironic; it’s ironic because it’s trendy for Asians girls to date only white guys and are white-wannabes.
@xXDC_luyouXx@datingish - since when? i never have wanted to date a white guy. most of my asian friends have only dated asian guys, and those that do choose to date white guys just don’t have strict preferences. i’ve never heard it was trendy of any sort.
@xXDC_luyouXx@datingish - Asian girls date white guys not because they want to be White, but because white guys are more flexible when it comes to sharing the household chores (cooking, cleaning, child-rearing, etc.). Although there are Asian guys out there who are willing to help when it comes to domestic chores, there are still Asian guys that are dead set in their traditional gender roles thought process. Unless you’re dating for the sake of dating, most people get into relationships with the intentions that they will be living together (cohabitation or marriage) for quite some time. @XoAsianBabioX - I’ve also never wanted to date a white guy. My friends that are dating white guys now say that they switched to white guys because they are more open when it comes to communication and sharing of the household chores (they live with their bfs).
It’s pure ethnocentrism. They think everyone is trying to copy them despite how Asians have been in fashion thousands of years before White people. And nobody questions the White people that get boob, butt, or lip implants and ask if they’re trying to be Black or Hispanic. And if they get a tan Jersey Shore style, are they trying to be less White?
@XoAsianBabioX - “i’ve never have wanted to date a white guy” :{o :{( yes, not just a sad face, but one with a distinguished mustache. i hope you find one white guy who causes you to think to yourself, ‘he might make an evening/afternoon- interesting.’ even if neither you nor he pursue it. :3@kn1ghtviper21 - white guys are less set in sexist roles compared to asians. really? i guess that would explain why chinese (nationals) are turning to christianity… does skin color really have such a strong relation to cultural habits? or do asians who wear ‘white’ culture’s (ugly) clothes and other cultural ideas tend to have a similar behavior? (sry about the ‘ugly’ remark, i just dislike 99+% of three piece suits, T-shirts and the rest of ‘white culture’ in terms of fashion.)@coolmonkey - jersey shore… yes, they are. by turning orange they are taking the idea of being ‘colored’ into a whole new range of the spectrum… “lip impants” ahhahaha… funny how what used to be torture and things you could extort cash from people just to not do it, is now something flocks spend allot of money to willfully do to themselves. (my fat lips are so phat they are permanent, and cost $70) i wonder how long it will be before people start getting de-nailed…
when i first saw an unusually big eyed asian chick, I thought she got it bigger so that she could enhance her eye sight…
I think you should submit this post to Lovelyish.
yeah, some white people are so full of themselves that they think the world revolve around them.
@HeLLo_Bianca - haha thanks! but damage control is already done. but if you’d like you could submit it! :]
americans wanna be tan, asians wanna be white. COME ON!
hmmm…, everyone has their own reasons for whatever, it’s basically individualistic, so for the who asians want to be more white thing and whites thinking that asians just wanna be like that (chuckles) wow, maybe that’s why there’s a stereotype of asians being smarter, cause this may account for why whites are not so smart (raises an eyebrow).Anyhow aside from the sarcasm there, rather than for an asian person to explain themselves to a white person why the want to be more pale, an asian person should just accept the white person’s ignorance and just keep that thought in mind (yes that’s another crack at white people being dumber, intended for those who may want a different way of thinking about this). All in all, this just entails a person’s ability to have opportunities to understand all that is beyond their own lives, and those with the opportunities won’t question why some asians want to be more pale, while there are those lacking those opportunities. Those lacking in those opportunities may actually want to know but just haven’t had the chance or could just be narrow-minded and should just be left alone to think their stupid ways.
lol. I’m Asian and I like to be pale, it makes me look like a clean doll. When I was a kid, I wanted to look tanned, because I thought tan skin = healthy, while pale skin = no sunshine, unhealthy. I saw those Filipino girls in my high school, they were fashionistas and gorgeous beautiful girls and I thought that my pale skin looked nerdy.Later in College, I saw a lot of Chinese women, and their porcelain skin was beautiful, I changed my point of view, pale skin = clean and clear, while tanned skin = dirty and cheap.I believe that what I just wrote is not a fact, it’s judgemental and subjective.I personally find White women more physically more attractive than Asian women. I also believe that Asian women can be very pretty on their own. I wish I could be White, but I know I can’t. So I just learn to embrace myself for who I am. But I’m not trying to bleach myself just to look like them, because no matter what I do, I’m still Asian.
People covet what they don’t have and are usually intrigued by something they deem as different from themselves.
@xXDC_luyouXx@datingish - Hm. Not saying it is a trend, but even if it were, I am definitely not “cool” then because in the past I have only dated an Asian guy and a black guy. And never once in my life wanted to look white, maybe half-white because I’m partial to mutts/mixes in general anyway.
You should choose your wordings better, unless you want to be seen just as arrogant as the people you despise so much.
My grandfather was chinese, so i sort of look asian, but my family and myself are latin
so we are a big combination. I think that asians who wear those circle lenses that are extremely big making their faces look scary are not very beautiful as many may think. Small eyes ARE also beautiful, i’ve seen many girls who are so gorgeous and have such beautiful small eyes. I just say, asian girls are pretty the way they are, and if they want to make their eyes bigger or their noses thinner, they would be beautiful too, but when they take this things to and extreme, they start to look unreal and scary, just like a white girl with a fake orange tan would look horrible to me.
After reading this I can’t help but say AMEN! As I read this I was mentally nodding and agreeing to everything you typed.
Personally, I’m white and I’ve always wished I was Asian. That’s all.
